Director District 2
District 2 Director
Barbara Griffin
Barbara is a 5th generation Nevadan, born in Minden and raised in Smith Valley. She attended the University of Nevada in Reno while working for NCR Data Processing. She moved to Minden and went to work for the Douglas County Clerk-Treasurer in 1973. She was elected to the position of Clerk-Treasurer in 1986 and served until September 2008 when she retired after 35 years of service. During her tenure she was the first President of the Elected County Clerks and Registrar of Voters Association; President of the County Fiscal Officers Association; appointed by the Secretary of State to serve on the Help America Voter Act Board for Nevada; and served on the Legislative Committee for CFOA for numerous years helping to improve state laws in several areas including elections, courts, open meeting law, and treasurer’s duties.
When East Fork Fire Protection District was separating from Douglas County, Barbara applied for the position of EFFPD Director, District 2. She was appointed by the Board of County Commissioners and officially took office January 3, 2017. She served as the first Secretary for the Board of Directors for two years and then as President of the Board for two years. She was elected in 2018 and in 2022. The greatest honor and pleasure of serving on the East Fork Fire Protection District Board, for Barbara, is having the ability to assist the administration, employees, and volunteers by supporting the purchase of new fire engines, ambulances, variety of equipment, enhance training opportunities, employ additional firefighters/paramedics and fuels management crew, which all allows for a higher benefit and service to our citizens.
