Identifying community fire risk using geographic mapping
Current Issues and Events - December 14, 2017

Researchers using geographic information systems (GIS) software recently evaluated a local fire safety intervention program to see if the residents selected for the program were actually living in areas with the highest fire risk.

GIS software is a valuable tool that fire departments can use to identify high fire risk neighborhoods. It offers community safety advocates the ability to identify where healthcare and other vital services are urgently needed.
